I participate in the exhibition "Democracy and Desire", masterminded by the Swedish artist Per Hüttner. The exhibition will take place at Vacio 9 in Madrid during 23rd of November 2006 to 8th of January 2007. The show does not quite work like other exhibitions. It will start out like a traditional photography exhibition, but during the run of the exhibition more and more texts and images will be added to the walls of the gallery. The exhibition will thus not be completed until it is over and You, the visitor to the gallery, are also encouraged to bring material that you feel is relevant to the topic to be included in the exhibition (more info about how this is done practically can be found on the website www. democraciaydeseo.com)
In conjunction with the exhibition I and my colleagues will do a series of events. The events, just like the exhibition, aspire to create a discussion about democracy and desire and how the two refer to one another.
I will arrange a Drag King performance which will be accompanied by a workshop. I think that Drag is a strong and significant expression that raise several questions about sexuality and who we really are. My purpose is to toss and turn concepts like gender, sexuality, feminism, lust and desire. I am looking for contributions and Your input is of greatest importance for me. I am very eager to get in touch with people, preferably in Spain/Madrid that is involved in these in Drag King activities or similar. If you are interested or know a group or person who would like to participate I would be eternally grateful if you could e-mail me at kakfras@gmail.com or forward the information to your friends and colleagues.
